Hospitality is a career discipline which has gained respectability and recognition in recent times.
Recently India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Amity, an institution of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF) have joined hands to launch the Indian School of Hospitality (ISH).
Remarking about the distinct features of ISH, Ashok Lohani, chairman and managing director, ITDC said: "While the hotel management institutes in the country usually offer education at the undergraduate level, catering to the requirement of supervisory staff, ISH will offer courses at the postgraduation (PG) level and provide higher skills to students enabling to enter the industry at the managerial level.
"
The courses offered at ISH are, PG Diploma in Tourism Management, one-year, full-time programme; and PG Diploma in Hospitality Management, available as one-year, full-time programme or two-year part-time programme.
Chandini Luthra, senior vice-president, ITDC said: "ISH will be an upmarket institute. Students with ITDC certification get preference and are well placed all over world."
Dwelling on the future plans of ITDC, she said: "We are looking for international partners to start a Bachelor’s programme in hospitality management."
Atul Chauhan, president, RBEF said: "The programmes will include management skills; foreign language, event management and behavioural and allied sciences.
